Port Douglas Carnivale Kickstarts the Season

A fabulous day out at Marina Mirage in Port Douglas for the Seafood Extravaganza was enjoyed by locals, tourists and travellers as part of the Port Douglas Carnivale. This fun filled weeklong event at the end of May kickstarts the tourist season in Tropical North Queensland. Typically rain will give way to glorious long sunny warm days during our winter months with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees during the daytime! Warm waters are perfect for ocean swimming with stingers no longer present and stinger nets now removed. Port Douglas, just half an hour’s drive from the peace and tranquility of Sweetwater Lodge, offers a perfect day out for keen shoppers, beach goers, and foodlovers with many excellent restaurants to choose from. It is also the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef with our many reef tour operators offering daily trips to Low Isles and the Outer Barrier Reef. Tropical North Queensland is truly a great holiday destination for domestic and international visitors offering outstanding experiences – Reef, Rainforest, Relaxation, Sunshine, Atherton Tablelands Food Bowl, Waterfalls, Freshwater Swimming holes, Magnificent markets, and a friendly welcome! #thisisqueensland #enjoy !!
